Dear FACE Member,
As you begin this school year I want to commend you on your decision to set your hearts and minds on dedicating yourself and this year to the Lord. This is perhaps the most important decision you will make all year. Whether this is your first year with FACE or your twelfth year, we welcome you with open arms and bended knees. We have been praying for you long before this first meeting.
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. Whether this is your first year or twelfth year with us, know that we are praying for you and we are so excited and humbled to encourage you through this year. Our prayer is that you will continue to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ as your FACE group grows as a Christian encouragement group on your campus.
The FACE devotional book will be ready for you to download on Monday August 22, 2011. The devotionals run from Labor Day week through the middle of May. The weekly schedule is your table of contents, as each devotional was written for a specific week. If you have already begun your school year, we encourage you to hold an organizational/ or a catch up meeting one week and prayer walk your campus the next week. This should get you to Labor Day week.
Remember to email your prayer requests to the FACE office each week so that we can pray more specifically for you and your school.
I want to encourage you to take what you learn in your FACE meetings devotionals and use them in your classroom. Now of course you need to be careful, I do not want you to lose your job. For those of you who teach students who can write in journals, especially sixth through twelfth grade, you will find that the things I encourage you to think about and share with one another will make great journal prompts for your students. You can encourage them to talk about their beliefs, values and faith openly in their journal, this is 100% legal. Living out our faith is our goal and getting student’s thinking about some of the issues we will discuss is a great way to keep their hearts and minds stirred and open. I repeat, this is not an alter call to your desk, it is an opportunity to think and share as you find ways to incorporate what God places on your heart each week.
I would also like to encourage you to come with a journal or notebook to write things down. God has a message for you and we get so distracted sometimes that we forget what we heard before we even leave the room. Write down ideas, prayer requests and other things that cross your mind. You may need to write in code or your own shorthand to insure privacy if your notebook fell into the wrong hands.
We have made some exciting changes to the FACE web site and we intend for it to be more interactive this year. Please check back every few weeks and be sure to “Like” us on Facebook. We always appreciate when you tell other educators about FACE and help us to grow more groups. It is our prayer that one day there will be an educator prayer group on every K-12 campus.
We look forward to praying through this year with you.
Serving Him with gladness,
Kathy Branzell
